Homemade cornbread
Preparation Time: 120 Minutes
Performance: 12 servings
INGREDIENTS
- 01 can green corn (drained)
- 01 whole egg
- 60ml oil
- 200ml milk
- 03 tablespoons sugar
- 01 teaspoon of salt
- 01 teaspoon dry yeast
- 500g wheat flour
PREPARATION METHOD
- First of all, to make this cornbread, take a large bowl and put in the oil, egg, sugar, salt and yeast and stir well.
- Now add the wheat flour, mixing slowly and constantly with a wooden spoon until you have a firm dough.
- Place the dough on a worktop sprinkled with wheat flour and start kneading with your hands until the dough is smooth and comes away from your hands. If necessary, add a little more flour.
- After this process, cover the bowl with cling film and leave to rest for about 2 hours.
- When you realize that the dough has doubled in volume, put it back on the worktop, sprinkled once again with wheat flour, and knead it again so that all the air comes out. Then start shaping the loaves as you wish.
- Finally, place the dough in a pan that has been greased with butter and sprinkled with cornmeal or wheat flour, use a beaten egg yolk to brush each loaf and leave it to rise again.
- Then bake in an oven heated to 180 degrees for 2 minutes or until you see that the loaves are lightly browned.
