Singer-songwriter Gilberto Gil, at the age of 82, has announced his retirement from the stage, scheduled to take place in 2025. The news, confirmed by the artist's press office to the newspaper Estadão, marks the end of an era in Brazilian popular music.
A Farewell Tour
Before saying goodbye to live performances for good, Gilberto Gil is planning an extensive tour that will take in various regions of Brazil, as well as the United States and Europe, in a journey similar to that of his contemporary Milton Nascimento.
Even though he's leaving the stage, Gil doesn't intend to give up music and will continue to contribute to the music scene in other ways.
